This website is operated by Darren (Daz), trading as Daz Automatic Driving School, a sole trader based in Spennymoor, County Durham. You can reach us at:

We are the data controller for any personal information collected through this website.
What information we collect
We only collect information you choose to give us. This happens when you:
- Call or text us directly
- Send a message via WhatsApp
- Message us on Facebook
The information typically includes your name, phone number, and any details you share about the driving lessons you're looking for (such as your experience level or preferred times).
This website does not have a contact form and does not automatically collect personal data from visitors.
How we use your information
We use the information you provide solely to:
- Respond to your enquiry about driving lessons
- Arrange and manage your lessons
- Contact you about your bookings
We do not use your information for marketing, and we do not sell, rent, or share your details with any third party.
Legal basis for processing
Under UK GDPR, we process your personal data on the basis of legitimate interests — specifically, to respond to your enquiry and provide the driving tuition service you've contacted us about. Where a contract is formed (i.e. you book lessons), processing is also necessary for the performance of that contract.
How long we keep your information
We keep your contact details and lesson notes for as long as we have an active teaching relationship with you, and for a reasonable period afterwards in case of any follow-up queries. We do not retain information indefinitely, and will delete it when it is no longer needed.
Third-party services
This website uses the following third-party services, which may process data about your visit:
- Google Fonts — used to load the Poppins typeface. Your browser makes a request to Google's servers when you visit this site, which may include your IP address. We rely on legitimate interests as our lawful basis for this — specifically, the interest in displaying the website correctly. The privacy impact is minimal and proportionate to that purpose. See Google's privacy policy.
- Google Analytics 4 — we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use this site (pages visited, time on site, general location by region). This service sets cookies on your device and sends anonymised usage data to Google's servers. We rely on your consent as our lawful basis for this processing. You can decline analytics cookies via the cookie banner when you first visit the site. See Google's privacy policy and Google's Analytics opt-out tool.
- Facebook — this site links to our Facebook page. If you visit that page, Facebook's own privacy policy applies. See Facebook's privacy policy.
- WhatsApp — if you contact us via WhatsApp, Meta's privacy policy applies to that communication. See WhatsApp's privacy policy.
Aside from Google Analytics (where you have consented), this website does not serve advertising and does not share data with third parties for marketing purposes.
Cookies
This website uses the following cookies:
- Analytics cookies (Google Analytics 4) — only set if you consent via the cookie banner. These cookies help us understand how visitors use the site. They include
_ga(expires after 400 days) and_ga_9QFKLMEMMC(expires after 400 days), which store a randomly generated identifier used to distinguish visitors. No personally identifiable information is stored in these cookies.
You can withdraw your consent at any time using the button below. This clears your saved preference and the banner will reappear on your next page load.
You can also use Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on to prevent your data being used by GA4 across all websites.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you
- Request a copy of that information
- Ask us to correct inaccurate information
- Ask us to delete your information
- Object to us processing your information
To exercise any of these rights, contact us by phone or WhatsApp on 07788 417305. We will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page will always reflect when it was last revised. We recommend checking back occasionally if you have concerns.
